Pull Up a Chair

At Sweet Bombdiggity Farms, we think of ourselves as life designers more than farmers. The farm, the animals, and the gardens are part of our story, but the bigger purpose is this: we want to encourage and support you as you design a life you love.

Moving forward in life can feel overwhelming. Between endless choices, constant demands, and decision overload, it is easy to lose sight of what matters most. Our hope is to make it simpler by sharing tools, stories, and ideas that help you clear away the noise and focus on what brings you joy and meaning.

For us, that focus shows up in our rhythms, the patterns that shape our days, and the stories we are writing with our lives.

Some rhythms are about rescue. Creating a safe space for animals to heal and regain faith in humanity has become one of the sweetest parts of our lives. Every horse, dog, donkey, goat, duck, farm cat, and chicken here has a story, and it is a gift to give them a home where they are safe and loved.

Some rhythms are about community. We are parents, grandparents, and friends, but also teachers at UT Knoxville, where I teach marketing and Lane serves as an administrator. Pouring into our students, mentoring them, and watching them grow is one of the most meaningful parts of our work.

Some rhythms are about creating and curating. I love dreaming, writing, filming, and sharing content that connects us with you. From the newsletter to our videos, photos, and stories, creating brings me immense joy. Curating the little things — from vintage finds and tools that make life easier to small moments of beauty — is one way I invite you into our world.

And some rhythms are quieter — like sharing a homemade meal with Lane, stretching out on the couch, and napping together while a football game plays softly in the background.

This week, we are talking about rhythms — the ones we keep, the ones we have lost, and the ones we yearn for. I’ve included a simple worksheet below to help you uncover your own and think about the rhythms that make your days richer and your dreams possible.

Let’s dream it, design it, and live it—together.

With love,
Lane + Jules

One Small Rhythm Can Change Everything

Sometimes the smallest shifts make the biggest difference. If you’ve been thinking about the rhythms shaping your days — the ones you love, the ones you’ve lost, and the ones you’re longing for — I created something to help.

The Rhythm Reset Worksheet is a simple, printable guide designed to help you pause, reflect, and uncover the patterns that truly matter. Inside, you’ll walk through what’s working, what’s draining you, and where there’s room to create rhythms that bring more joy, rest, and meaning into your days.

It’s incredible what can happen when we make a little space to breathe.

Gather Today, Bloom Tomorrow

As summer winds down, the garden is full of quiet little treasures waiting to be saved for next year. Collecting seeds now is one of the simplest and most rewarding rhythms, a small effort that yields beautiful returns next season.

To make it easy, I put together a free Seed Saving Cheat Sheet with tips on when to harvest, how to collect, and the best way to store seeds from your favorite blooms. It covers zinnias, cosmos, marigolds, sunflowers, black-eyed Susans, and more.

Plant Now, Savor Later

Even though summer is winding down, there’s still plenty of time to enjoy the garden. Late-season planting brings fresh harvests and a little extra color when everything else begins to fade.

I put together a list this week with 15 quick-grow crops you can plant right now to make the most of the season. No greenhouse required -- many of them can be planted in containers or right in the ground. These easy-to-grow favorites will keep your garden thriving a little longer. Enjoy!

From the Farm Kitchen

Fresh Late Summer Salsa

When the garden is overflowing with tomatoes and peppers, there’s nothing better than making something simple and full of flavor. This salsa is fresh, quick, and tastes like summer goodness in a bowl.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup sweet peppers, chopped (add jalapeños or serranos for heat)
  • ½ cup red onion, finely diced
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1–2 limes
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Combine everything in a bowl and stir well.
  2. Let it sit for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  3. Serve with chips, spoon over tacos, grilled chicken, or enjoy straight from the bowl.

This one’s on repeat at Sweet Bombdiggity Farms — quick to make, packed with flavor.

The Curated Corner

Recently, I’ve been thinking about how important it is to create small, simple spaces that bring me joy. My house isn’t perfect. In fact, most days, it’s beautifully lived-in and wonderfully busy, but finding one little corner I can make my own has become one of my favorite rhythms.

In our white-and-black kitchen here at the Knoxville nest, I recently pulled together a few pieces that make my heart feel at ease. There’s something about a vintage pink and the nod to years gone by that feels comforting and grounding.

Even on my busiest days, this curated little spot reminds me to pause, breathe, and enjoy the beauty right where I am. It doesn’t have to be big or perfect to feel meaningful — sometimes, it’s the smallest spaces that bring the most peace.

Favorite Finds

From must-have tools and products to vintage treasures and talented makers that I think are the bombdiggity—this little section is full of fun. Just a few things I’m loving lately… and I’d love to hear what you’re loving too!

ForJars Canning Supplies

If you’re stocking up on canning supplies, I’ve been loving ForJars lids and tools. The quality is better--heavier and they always seal. When I'm putting in the energy to can something, I love that peace of mind. You can grab your own and a little you use my code BOMBDIGGITY at checkout.

BUGUI Wood Handle Pruning Shears

These BUGUI pruning shears are perfectly suited for summer garden rhythms—lightweight with a smooth SK-5 stainless steel blade and a gentle spring mechanism that opens the blades after each cut, keeping your wrists relaxed. The ambidextrous wooden handles feel natural, even after a long harvest session. Plus, they lock closed for safe storage and are under $20. A simple tool, beautifully functional, and I love it!

For My Chicken Lovers

It’s no secret—I’m a big fan of everything from Eaton Pet & Pasture. From Roost Refresh and Revitalime to their Hemp Bedding and Aspen Nesting Pads, their products keep our coops clean, cozy, and smelling fresh.

And their new odor neutralizer? It has me singing and dancing in the chicken run—because y’all, there’s literally no smell. None.

Want to give them a try? Use code BombDiggity or shop through this link for 20% off. Your flock (and your nose) will thank you.

A Peek at What’s Ahead

Something Fun Is Coming!

I’m working hard to pull together our very first Friday Finds drop this September, and I can’t wait to share it with you! Every piece is curated with love — and the best part? As much as we love curating fun finds, it is even more fun to share them with others. All proceeds go directly to support our farm rescues here at Sweet Bombdiggity Farms.

Anything special you’re hoping to see in this first drop? Hit reply and let me know — I’d love your input!

Tuck it in your pocket

"Rhythms are the quiet patterns shaping the stories we live."

This week, I’ve been thinking about how the smallest choices — the gentle shifts, the pauses, the little resets — slowly weave the life we’re creating. When we notice our rhythms, we notice our days, and when we notice our days, we design a life we love.

“We become what we repeatedly do. Little by little, our daily rhythms become the story of our lives.”
— Inspired by Aristotle

Maybe today it’s a deep breath, a slower moment, or planting one more seed for next season. Little by little, these rhythms become the heartbeats of our days.

Here’s to simple joys and big dreams,

Pull Up a Chair The Quiet Between Seasons This time of year feels like the world is changing gears. The mornings start later, the days end earlier, and there’s a quiet hum of readiness in the air. Out on the farm, we’ve been buttoning things up for winter, but the truth is, most of us feel some version of this shift, whether we live in the city, the suburbs, or out where the fields meet the trees. There’s work to be done, both literal and emotional, before the new season settles in. Closets...

Pull Up a Chair Bring on the Rain Some days, the rain sets the pace. It taps against the windows, softens the world, and quietly insists that you slow down. Maybe it’s a gentle nudge not to rush through but to let life breathe a little. We live in a world that rarely pauses. The lists are long, the emails never stop, and most of us are working full-time while trying to build a life that feels like our own. But when the rain comes, it offers a different kind of rhythm — one that reminds us we...

Pull Up a Chair There’s something about this time of year that invites a slower rhythm. The air feels softer, the evenings come a little earlier, and the world seems to exhale after summer’s bustle. Out at the farm, I find myself gathering the last blooms, watching the compost pile steam in the cool mornings, and realizing how much beauty there is in quiet transformation. This month’s theme—Turning Toward the Good—is about that same kind of shift. It’s about noticing what’s still working,...
